Call for Proposals for the establishment of 3 EU Centres in Australia
and 1 EU Centre in New Zealand

The European Commission invites proposals from Australian and New Zealand Universities to establish 3 EU Centres in Australia and 1 EU Centre in New Zealand . The EU Centres initiative is aimed at encouraging greater awareness and knowledge of the EU through support for EU-focused curriculum development and research, outreach activities and academic links.
The objectives of the EU Centres in Australia and New Zealand are the following:
- Building centres of academic excellence with a view to broadening and deepening the base of European Union studies in Australia/New Zealand;
- Developing targeted outreach activities in Australia/New Zealand to constituencies beyond academic circles in order to enhance the visibility of the EU, its policies and development; and to promote a better understanding and knowledge of the EU as a major player in the global system and as a bilateral partner of Australia/New Zealand;
- Strengthening academic cooperation between the European Union and Australia/New Zealand;
- Contributing to an effective functioning of the network of EU Centres.
The maximum budget available for the 4 Centres is 4 million euros.
Additional funding up to 100.000€ maximum is available for the Networking and Outreach Coordinator in Australia .
