
The Delegation of the European Union to New Zealand is seeking candidates for the 2006 European Union Journalist Award.
The Award consists of a two-week working visit to EU institutions and up to two EU Member States, a return business class airfare, reasonable accommodation costs and a living allowance.
The Award is open to a New Zealand journalist with not less than five years experience in any form of media, who can satisfy the selection panel on how they could engender a better understanding of the EU/New Zealand relationship. Preference will be given to applicants who can demonstrate an ability to have their material published or broadcast.
Selection will be based on a project proposal outlining an issue or issues that would be pursued during the study visit. Originality and innovation in the development of themes will be valued highly, as will their appropriateness for the target audience in New Zealand. The selection panel will also take into consideration three examples of work by the applicant published or broadcast in the previous 12 months.
Applicants must have the written support and recommendation of their employer as well as confirmation that the applicant will be free to take up the programme. Travel must be concluded by 31 December 2006.
Three copies of the project application, letter of support, CV and all materials, including video/audio tapes, must be forwarded by 5pm, Monday 21 August to:
